I like the first two sentences in your post. "You cannot lose half of your body weight without a going on a serious diet". Likewise, we cannot shrink this federal government to a reasonable size without starving it". Yes, you have a point there that we should stop them from consumption of large taxes. My only fear is that they might backslide from their diet and the result will be more horrendous. Filing Back Taxes

A country worth fighting for does not need a draft. The current all volunteer military proves volunteers can do the job. The original all volunteer military that resulted in American Independence offers the best proof.
Talk of late, suggesting my children be indentured to the state, to offer some form of public service in support of a statist agenda, makes it clear that we must not cover only a military draft with this article.

Article 5 requires congress to call a convention when two thirds of the states call for a convention. Currently every single state has called for a convention.
It is not surprising that congress has ignored them. Congress doesn't even bother to track which states have called for a convention. I guess they don't have enough money budgeted to do that.
The states should be empowered to form some type of ad hoc committee which would at least annually answer the question; Have enough states called for a convention?

How can we make clear we expect the President to follow the Advice and Consent requirements already in the constitution?

They say they are preserving it for future generations but this lie is exposed when you ask them "which generation?" My Children? My Grandchildren? Great Grandchildren? The answer is always some vague never to arrive "future generation".
The single biggest polluter and destroyer of the environment is the federal government. If we really want to preserve it for future generations put it in state or private hands.

What other restrictions on government are necessary to return this constitutional Republic to a firm foundation?
